For electrical shops

The electrician answering service that knows which calls are dangerous.

Half the calls are inconvenient. A few are dangerous. It knows which.

Dead outlets and tripping breakers can wait for the morning. Sparking or a burning smell cannot. Pickwick sorts the two, sends the dangerous one to 911, and takes down the rest for you to schedule.

The calls that come in

Sparks, burning smells and tripped mains: what it says

Sparks from an outlet, burning smell
Emergency. Hang up and call 911.
Breaker keeps tripping on the dryer
Urgent or routine by the answers; window proposed.
Want a quote on a panel upgrade
Details taken; an estimate visit penciled in for you to confirm.
Can you tell me how to fix it?
No. Checking a thermostat or resetting a tripped breaker at most; anything else, it books a technician for you to approve.

Routine electrical work, booked with your approval

CallerThe outlet behind the TV just popped and now there's a burning smell.

PickwickPlease hang up now, get everyone outside, and call 911. Do not touch any light switches on your way out. Someone from the shop will call you right back.

Sparking, burning smells and smoke: 911 before anything

Hazards it will name and send to 911: sparking, an electrical burning smell, smoke. Not a setting.

The rules that do not change for electrical shops

Emergency before sale

A described hazard ends with "hang up and call 911", and the caller is not sold a service visit first.

Recorded, and told first

In the caller's language, after the language choice where Spanish is on. A caller who declines: recording stops and what was kept so far is deleted (the caller's request itself is kept).

No repair instructions beyond checking a thermostat or resetting a tripped breaker

Anything else, it books a technician for you to approve.

No invented prices or times

Your fee in your words, or a callback. Windows come from your hours and bookings, never guessed.

Questions

Electrician answering service questions

Anything else: write to us.

What does a electrical answering service cost with Pickwick?

$149 a month for 600 minutes (about 200 calls), then $0.49 a minute; $349 for 1,000 minutes. No setup fee, no long-term contract, and the first 14 days on your line are free with no card. The numbers are on the pricing page.

Can it answer only after hours and when the line is busy?

Yes. Your number stays yours; you forward it to your Pickwick line after hours, when busy, on no answer, or always, with one code from your phone, and the same code switches it back.

Does it quote my diagnostic fee?

Only in the words you give it. Write the fee the way you say it on the phone and it says exactly that; leave it blank and it says it cannot quote and takes a number. It never invents a price.

Can it page my on-call technician?

An emergency is flagged to the people you list the moment it is named, and an approved job goes to the technician you choose, through the dashboard app on their phone. Once business texting is live, the same page arrives as a text.
